Alexander Volkov’s Combat Background

Top seventh heavyweight contender and former two times belt holder Alexander Volkov is going to fight on 9th of November against a tough fighter Greg Hardy, the former American football player. Greg has won five fights; all by stoppage. Greg Hardy has only one loss and that came by way of disqualification when he landed an illegal knee on Allen Crowder last January. Alexander also has a great knockout ratio where he has knocked 20 opponents out in his 30 victories; he lost only 7 fights against some elite contenders.

Before having a long career in Bellator and M1 organizations, Alexander signed a fighting contract with UFC in 2016 where he has fought 5 fights. His record in Ultimate Fighting Championship is 4 wins and 1 loss.

Alexander appeared in Bellator event in 2012 and came out victorious with the previously vacant Bellator heavyweight belt of season 7. In final, Alexander defeated Richard Hale by a unanimous decision.  In 10 season, Alexander won the championship belt again; he defeated Mark Holata, Mighty Mo, and Blagoy Ivanov in quarter-final, semi-final, and final respectively.

Later on, Alexander appeared in M- 1 Challenge 68 where he won the world title from Russian heavyweight champion Deniss Smoldarev by submission via triangle choke. The same year, Alexander again went to Russia to defend his title against the heavyweight challenger Attila Végh, he knocked Russian out in the opening round and kept his belt while extending his legacy.

In his UFC debut, Alexander defeated Timothy Johnson via a split decision in the UFC Fight Night event in Belfast. In 2017, he defeated Roy Nelson by a unanimous decision after a three rounder.

The same year he defeated Stefen Struve via a technical knockout and won the fight of the night prize in Rotterdam, Netherland. In UFC Fight Night London, England, Alexander KO’ed the former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum who was top dog in the fight, the Brazilian born could not hear the final bell and was stopped by Alexander Volkon in fourth round; after a tough battle between the participants and the bout earned Fight of the Night prize in that event.

In his recent fight, Alexander was knocked out by former Bellator MMA and Legacy FC heavyweight champion Derrick James Lewis, this fight happened at the undercard of Khabib vs. Conor; UFC 229, where Khabib humiliated the big mouth & trash talker Conor McGregor, who was then face of Mixed Martial Arts.

Alexander is working hard for his strong comeback in UFC against Greg Hardy. After a few days, the pair is going to face each other in the ring, Alexander is hungry to redeem his legacy and this fight could put him back on the winning track.
